Brand-wise 2-wheeler sales report for the month of April 2019 brought mixed results for the top automobile manufacturers of India. When considering the motorcycle market, Hero MotoCorp is the most selling brand with 5,67,932 units while Honda follows next with 4,32,767 units.
Both the brands have posted negative sales number as last year in April Hero had a 16.2% higher sales number than April 2019. For Honda 2-Wheelers, the sales number was worst last month with a drop of 31.9% in comparison to the number posted in the same month last year.
TVS Motor got 2,48,456 units in the same period while Bajaj Auto was good for 2,05,875 units. Both the brands registered slight positive YoY growth as the number of units moving out from their side was higher by approximately 2.8% and 2.6% respectively.
Yamaha and Royal Enfield are the next two big brands and both faced downfall in April 2019 with 60,781 and 59,137 units respectively. The latter is falling due to an increase in pricing while the former seems to struggle by limiting itself to just 150cc+ products in India.
Suzuki India has seen considerable growth and posted 57,053 units and came out as the last brand to post a five digit sale number. Piaggio posted 5880 units and Harley-Davidson came next with just 274 units. However, the number is better than the last month’s sales figure that missed the Street 750 series. Triumph was good for 70 units while UM and Mahindra posted 0 units in April 2019.
