Harley-Davidson LiveWire Electric Motorcycle Specifications Revealed

Harley-Davidson has finally revealed the complete specifications of its first-ever electric motorcycle, the LiveWire. Initially unveiled at the 2018 EICMA, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire is one of the most expensive offerings of the brand’s touring portfolio. The pre-bookings of the motorcycle were announced by the brand at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year while the motorcycle will be available for sale in the US market sometime in early 2020 at a price tag of $27,799 USD (INR 19.06 lakh).

Powering the Harley-Davidson LiveWire is a 15.5 kWh battery that is capable of producing an impressive power of 103 HP and a peak torque of 116 Nm. The brand has named its new electric motors as the “Revelation” drivetrain. The power values make it stand as one of the most powerful Harley ever made though, the maximum torque figure could have been better. The company claims the total range of the LiveWire electric motorcycle at 235 km on a single charge while the motorcycle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just a duration of 3 seconds.

The motorcycle can be charged to 80% in just 40 minutes through the DC Fast Charge Technology. The LiveWire can be charged fully in just an hour while it takes 12.5 hours for a full charge via a conventional AC socket. The battery pack has been placed at the place of the IC engine while the batteries can be charged through the electrical socket that has been disguised as a fake fuel-filler. The motorcycle scales at a kerb weight of 249 kgs.

The suspension duties are handled by 43mm upside-down fully adjustable Showa separate function big piston forks at the front while the rear of the electric motorcycle gets a fully adjustable Showa balance free rear cushion-lite monoshock. The Harley-Davidson LiveWire gets 300mm dual disc brakes at the front and a 260mm single disc at the rear.

The brand has equipped the motorcycle with a Reflex Defensive Rider Systems (RDRS) safety suite that further features Cornering Enhanced Anti-lock Braking System (C-ABS), Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS) and Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS). The LiveWire has been equipped with a full-colour TFT instrument console as well as with Bluetooth connectivity in addition to multiple riding modes. The motorcycle is expected to be launched in the Indian market by early 2020.
