Harley-Davidson recently confirmed that their all-new Streetfighter 338 will be launching in China by the end of next year. The brand has announced its decision to roll out the 338cc motorcycle as a joint alliance with a Chinese firm Zhejiang Qianjiang, the owner of Benelli brand. Since the 338cc motorcycle is expected to launch in just a span of 15-18 months, the recent reports suggest that the Harley Streetfighter 338 is actually based on the Benelli 302S.
The official rendered image of the Harley Streetfighter 338 and the production-spec image of Benelli 302S clears the fact that the ongoing rumours make sense. Both the motorcycles feature similar looking chassis frame as well as the same engine, suspension, and braking components.
Benelli uses two versions of its twin cylinder engine, the 300cc version for the smaller displacement motorcycles like 302S while on the other hand, they offer a 500cc displacement on the TRK 502 and Leoncino 500. Combining the crankshaft of the former with pistons and cylinders of the latter, the brand will introduce the 338cc engine to be used on the upcoming Harley-Davidson Streetfighter 338.
Benelli is planning on introducing the 302S in the Indian market shortly as a replacement for the TNT 300 while Harley-Davidson is keen on using the same underpinnings for their motorcycle for accelerating the product development and introduce the co-product in a short time span. The 338cc Harley-Davidson Streetfighter is expected to be launched in India in the year 2021 though, no official details for the same have been surfaced yet.
The recently revealed prototypes of the 338cc motorcycle from Harley-Davidson shows a modern streetfighter design language. The all-LED headlight and tail light with a trellis frame gives the motorcycle a retro-modern look. The suspension duties are handled by upside-down front forks and an adjustable monoshock at the rear.
Once launched in India, it will compete with the likes of Benelli TNT 300, Yamaha MT-03, Kawasaki Z400, KTM 390 Duke, Honda CB300R, and the BMW G310R. The streetfighter is expected to get a price tag of INR 3.50-4.00 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market.
