Heavy Discounts on BS3 Bikes and Scooters in India

Heavy Discounts on BS3 Bikes and Scooters in India

The change in emission rules have forced the two wheeler manufacturers to offer massive discounts on the BS3 compliant motorcycles and scooters. According to the recent report, around 6,40,000 two wheelers are parked with BS3 engines and need to get an owner within next few hours. Otherwise, they have no other option than scrapping or exporting them to some other market, both requiring further investment on the idling stock.

BS stands for Bharat Stage and it is an emission norm set by the Indian Government to measure the amount of pollution a vehicle emits. Till now it was allowed to sell/buy BS3 vehicles in India. But from April 1, no manufacturer will be allowed to sell a BS3 bike or scooter. All vehicles must be BS4 compliant to be eligible to be sold in India. In short, it is the best time to get massive discounts on bikes and scooters across all brands. Some Honda Dealers are even offering a Navi 110 free with the purchase of Honda CBR150R or CBR250R! Here are the number of discounts available across market leaders in India.

Hero MotoCorp dealers are offering around INR 5,000 discount on the existing BS3 range of products. The discounts among certain products like Maestro Edge goes up to INR 12,500. Honda dealers, on the other hand, are offering INR 22,000 off on CBR250R and CBR150R across the country. Honda CB Shine gets INR 20,000 off while CB Unicorn 160 and Dream Yuga can be had with INR 15,000-20,000 discount. Some dealers are even offering Honda Navi with INR 18,500 of discount while Dio commands INR 12,000 off its price tag.

BS3 Honda Activa 3G Gets Discount of INR 10,000 (Approx.)

Bajaj Dealers are offering INR 15,000 discount on the Bajaj Pulsar RS200, while rest of the bikes under Pulsar brand gets a discount of INR 7,000 (except the Pulsar NS200). The Avenger series also get a discount of INR 7,000, and Bajaj is offering INR 5,000 off on Bajaj V15, Discover 125 and Platina. Suzuki is also offering attractive discounts on its bikes and scooters to clear the BS3 stock. They are offering INR 5,000 on the Gixxer Series and INR 4,000 on the Let’s Scooter. Mahindra is giving flat INR 25,000 off on the Mojo 300 while the Centuro commuter bike and Gusto Scooter are being offered with a discount of INR 15,000.

TVS Motor is offering INR 10,000 off from its Jupiter’s price tag while the same can even be had from Apache RTR 200’s price tag. The smaller Apache RTR 160 and Victor can be had with INR 5,000 off. There have been no reports from Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield, KTM, Yamaha and Suzuki regarding the discounts. It seems like all of these were well prepared before the deadline and all of their BS3 products were sold within time. Bajaj Auto even gave few statements regarding no extension provision for any manufacturer from April 1, 2017.

KTM India has officially posted an image on their facebook page, offering discount on all BS3 models across the dealerships. Some sources are saying that the discounts may go upto INR 22,000 on select models. The stocks are limited while customers just have few more hours to get the benefits from the BS3 sales across the country. The models included in the list are 2016 KTM RC390, RC200, 390 Duke and 200 Duke.

When it comes to superbikes, Triumph and Ducati are betting big on the discounts. Triumph offers INR 3 lakh discount on its cruiser (Thunderbird and Rocket) while INR 1 lakh can be availed on the Daytona. The popular Tiger series can be had with upto INR 80,000 discount and INR 66,000 worth of accessories. Ducati offers INR 2.7 lakh off from Monster 821 while the Scrambler Urban Enduro can be had with INR 2.5 lakh discount. The massive Ducati Diavel can even be had with INR 2 lakh worth of discount from its price tag. Harley Davidson is offering INR 30,000 off from its Street 750 while all other are BS4 compliant in their lineup.

Kawasaki is offering discounts up to INR 1 lakh on its locally assembled range that are BS3 compliant. As these bikes could not be on sale after 31 March 2017, they only have limited number of days to clear the stock from their inventories. This is possibly the best offer that can be had in the motorcycle segment in 2017. The on-road price for Kawasaki Ninja 650 in Delhi has been reduced to INR 4.86 lakh while ER-6N can be had for INR 4.42 lakh. Not just that, Kawasaki Z250 is now the most affordable twin cylinder motorcycle of India. It can be had for INR 3 lakh (on-road Delhi) while rivals are well above this price point.
