Hero MotoCorp revealed the Destini 125 in India at a private event. The Auto Expo in 2018 confirmed Maestro Edge and Duet in the 125cc guise but, the production version of the latter will get a different name. The company is all set to bring the Destini 125, confirmed by the images of their recent event. Hero has decided to position this product as a premium family scooter, and Destini 125 will be placed above all others in the Indian Hero lineup.
Just like the Maestro Edge, the Destini 125 will be available with Hero’s i3S (Idle Stop-Start System) technology, which will help the scooter achieve a better fuel economy. The scooter will draw its power from a new 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled Energy Boost engine, delivering a maximum power of 8.7 bhp at 6,750 rpm and a peak torque of 10.2 Nm at 5,000 rpm. This engine will be mated to a CVT automatic transmission, which will transfer the power to the rear wheel.
Hero Destini 125 will be available in the markets in four paint schemes, namely Noble Red, Chestnut Bronze, Panther Black, and Pearl Silver White. The scooter will have an all-metal body, and the suspension duties on the front will be handled by telescopic forks. Additional features will include an external fuel cap, a USB charging port, boot light, integrated braking system, dual-tone mirrors, and tubeless tires. The instrument cluster on the scooter will have a mixture of digital and analog dials, and there will be indicators for reminders for things like a due service of the scooter.
Destini 125 is likely to carry a more premium price. There are expectations that the scooter will be priced around INR 5,000 above the Duet 110. The move will put the Destini 125 in direct competition with Suzuki Burgman Street, Honda Grazia, TVS Ntorq 125, Vespa LX 125, Aprilia SR 125, and Suzuki Access 125.
