Detailed Comparison: Honda CBR300R vs TVS Apache RR 310

Honda CBR300R vs TVS Apache RR 310: The entry of Apache RR 310 reminded us of a neat motorcycle that could have welcomed the flagship sprinter from TVS in a better way. Yes, you are guessing in the right direction. It’s Honda and definitely none other than the CBR300R.

The successor to CBR250R in most markets, the Honda CBR300R is smart, good looking and has a design inspired by the litre-class 2016 CBR1000RR Fireblade. The brand should have launched the CBR300R in India instead of relaunching the CBR250R at the Auto Expo 2018.

The new model of the 300cc CBR is a better and worthy rival to the Apache RR 310. As of now, Honda has not announced anything officially regarding the launch of the CBR300R in India though, we can expect it to replace the CBR250R by mid-2020.

Honda CBR300R vs TVS Apache RR 310

# Engine – TVS Apache RR 310 is powered by a 312.2cc, single-cylinder engine equipped with fuel injection and liquid cooling. The engine is good for 34HP @ 9700 rpm and 27.2Nm @ 7700 rpm. Honda CBR300R is equipped with a 286cc engine, producing 30.4HP @ 8500 rpm and 27.1Nm @ 7250 rpm. The Apache RR 310 is more powerful but CBR300R delivers the power at a lower rpm level. Both the 300cc-segment sportbikes are equipped with a 6-speed gearbox.

# Dimensions – Honda CBR300R measures 2035mm in length, 720mm in width and 1120mm in height. It offers 145mm of ground clearance and 785mm of low seat height. The wet weight tips the scale at 164kg. The sportbike is equipped with a 13-litre fuel tank. In comparison, the TVS Apache RR 310 measures 2001mm in length, 786mm in width and 1135mm in height. The seat height is 810mm while the ground clearance on offer comes out to be 180mm. It weighs 169.5kgs and offers 11-litres of fuel tank capacity.

The length and height of both the sportbikes are practically the same but Honda CBR300R shows its lean profile through much lesser width and low weight. It even carries 2 litres of more fuel for a better overall range. The TVS Apache RR 310 may not be as fit as the CBR300R for the short riders. Still, the 180mm of ground clearance offered by Apache is miraculous for Indian roads.

# Features – Both the bikes are equipped with a 2-channel ABS unit and both of them carry a dual headlight front fascia. The updated model of the Apache RR 310 now even comes with a race-tuned slipper clutch as standard. The use of LED lights on the Apache at both front and rear saves energy and improves visibility. The Honda CBR300R may get an update for lights before its official launch in the Indian market. Both the bikes are offered with front and rear disc brakes while TVS wins the game with USD front forks in comparison to the conventional telescopic ones on the CBR.

# Design – Fireblade lovers know the importance of this design of Honda CBR300R. It is highly aerodynamic and looks ageless in all aspects. The long exhaust looks proportional and well-designed for a bike of this size. The fairing is neat and the fuel tank looks almost similar to the India-spec CBR250R. TVS Apache RR 310, on the other hand, feels more dynamic and looks race-ready at all times. The huge exhaust looks out of proportion from some angles though, the golden USD forks further enhance its character in front of CBR300R.

# Console – TVS wins the console game without even trying to battle. The all-digital console is very informative and comes with loads of features. Honda CBR300R uses the same instrument console as the India-spec model of the CBR250R. It looks good but does not feel as premium as the one used on the Apache RR 310 though, Honda is expected to update the console of the CBR300R in the coming months. The sportbike is also expected to get a minor facelift in terms of the design.

# Price – TVS Apache RR 310 was launched in India @ INR 2.15 Lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). At present, it is priced at INR 2.27 lakh in most of the states in India. If Honda launches the CBR300R sportbike in India, it would be priced somewhere over INR 2.50 lakh mark as the CB300R costs INR 2.41 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi).
