According to a recent report from Japan’s Young Machine, the 2020 Honda CBR250RR is expected to debut in July this year. The updated sports motorcycle is expected to get more power and torque while the brand is further expected to offer it a host of new features.
The reports suggest that the brand is expected to update the 249cc engine on the motorcycle with a newly designed piston that will ensure optimum power delivery and increased performance. At present, the 249cc parallel-twin, DOHC engine on the Honda CBR250RR is capable of offering maximum power of 38.2HP @ 12,500 rpm and a peak torque of 23.3 Nm @ 11,000 rpm. The 2020 variant, on the other hand, is expected to witness a rise in power from 38.2HP to 41HP. The engine will remain mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Since the 2020 Honda CBR250RR is expected to offer a power output of around 41HP, one can easily expect it to offer a tough competition to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R, which features an in-line, 4-cylinder engine. The Kawasaki sports bike is highly anticipated by enthusiasts across the world and will be launched in Indonesia next month.
In addition to the increased performance, Honda is expected to equip the 2020 model of the CBR250RR with a slipper clutch while the customers will also be able to avail a bi-directional quickshifter with the sports machine as an additional accessory. The users will be further able to operate the key functions of the sports bike via a smart key system that will allow the riders to lock and unlock the handlebar unit with a single switch on the key fob.
Some reports also suggest that the 2020 Honda CBR250RR is expected to feature a revised instrument unit which will further offer Bluetooth connectivity. The brand will be offering the updated motorcycle in three colour schemes namely Pearl Glare White, Matte Black and Grand Prix Red. The former two colour variants are expected to get a price tag of around JPY 847,000 (INR 5.84 lakh) while the latter is expected to be priced at around JPY 888,000 (INR 6.12 lakh). There is no official confirmation of the launch of the 2020 Honda CBR250RR in the Indian market as of yet.
