Honda CB Hornet 200R in the Works; To Rival 200cc Apache & Pulsar

All-New Honda CB Hornet 200R in the Making: According to a recent report, Honda 2-Wheelers India is planning to foray into the entry-level premium motorcycle segment in the coming weeks with the introduction of a new 200cc bike. The report further suggests that the brand will be introducing the all-new bike in India as CB Hornet 200R and it would be getting an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.40 lakhs.

As per the details available, the brand will be equipping the upcoming 200cc motorcycle with a liquid-cooled engine that will be capable of generating a maximum power output between 20HP-23HP. Since Honda 2-Wheelers India featured only CB Hornet 160R in the entry-level premium segment, introducing a 200cc street bike would be beneficial for the customers looking for an upgrade to a high-displacement Honda motorcycle.

Pioneering into the 200cc motorcycle segment will certainly help the brand to focus on its customer base rather than letting them wander to other competitors like Bajaj, KTM, and TVS in the 200cc segment. Once launched in India, the Honda CB Hornet 200R would be competing in the market with the likes of KTM Duke 200, TVS Apache RTR 200, and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200.

In one of the recent updates, the Honda CBF190R has been recently patented by the brand at the Indian Patents office. Honda two-wheelers currently feature a host of 190cc motorcycles under its portfolio, most of which are only available for sale in the Chinese markets. It is being rumoured that the India-spec 200cc motorcycle would be based on the 2020 model of the Honda CBF190R.

For your reference, the CBF190R is powered by a 184.4cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, air-cooled engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 16.62 HP @ 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 16.3 Nm @ 7000 rpm. It is expected that Honda would be increasing the displacement of this engine to around 199.5cc and will also tune the same to generate more power and torque to make the CB Hornet 200R capable enough to compete with the rest of the 200cc street bikes available in the Indian market.
