New Mahindra Thar 5-Door Variant Reportedly in the Making: According to one of the recent reports, Mahindra is reportedly working on a 5-door variant of the recently-revealed 2021 model of the Thar SUV. If it turns out to be true, the Thar would be getting a 5-door setup for the very first time as it had been always available with a 3-door setup since its launch back in 2010.
Mahindra could launch the 5-door Thar as Armada, which was quite a popular nameplate back in the 1990s. SRK Designs, one of the popular rendering artists, recently created a digital image of the new Thar with 5-doors to give the audience a glimpse of the rumoured SUV. In order to add 2 more doors, the customizer has stretched the wheelbase of the SUV, which has further resulted in more interior space.
SRK Designs has also placed a much-better looking front grille and a new set of all-LED headlights in comparison to the stock model of the new Mahindra Thar. The customizer has also tweaked some of the other parts of the SUV to make it more appealing in terms of looks.
If Mahindra plans on launching an all-new model of the Armada (5-door Thar), it would be getting the same engine options: a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine and a 2.0-litre turbocharged mStallion petrol engine. The mHawk130 DOHC 16-valve diesel engine is good for a maximum power of 130 BHP with a peak torque of 300 Nm.
On the other hand, the mStallion150 T-GDi DOHC 16-valve petrol engine generates a maximum power of 150 BHP along with an utmost torque of 320 Nm. The new Mahindra Armada (if it comes) will also be available with an option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox in addition to the 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
