According to a report by MotoSaigon, Honda is working on the CBR300RR sportbike for the international markets. The reports suggest that the Japanese brand will be launching their new product by the end of the year 2020. Earlier, the bike was expected to launch by mid-2020 but it has been delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The motorcycle will be based on the CBR250RR which was initially unveiled in 2017 for the ASEAN markets. The CBR250RR sports bike is inspired from the Honda Light Weight Super Sports Concept unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show while the upcoming sportbike is expected to get a similar design language along with a very powerful 300cc twin-cylinder engine.
The Honda CBR300RR’s engine will be based on the CBR250RR’s 249.7cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 38.7 HP and a peak torque of 23.3 Nm. The CBR300RR is expected to generate around 45 HP of maximum power along with 28 Nm of maximum torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The 300cc sportbike will also come equipped with a throttle-by-wire system and it will allow the rider to operate the motorcycle in multiple riding modes namely Comfort, Sport, and Sport+. The CBR300RR will come featured with an all-digital instrument console, a slipper clutch and a quick shifter in addition to getting a smart key system.
The suspension duties on the motorcycle will be handled by Showa upside-down forks at the front while the rear will feature a monoshock absorber. The motorcycle once launched will compete in the market with the likes of Yamaha YZF-R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 400. The brand is highly unlikely to launch the Honda CBR300RR in the Indian market.
