Honda Recalls 3 Scooters in India: Honda India has recently issued a voluntary inspection for three of its scooters. This includes Grazia, Activa 125 and Aviator. The scooters included under this recall were manufactured between Feb 7, 2018 and March 16, 2018.
As all of them are available with telescopic forks at the front, Honda has identified a quality issue that describes excessive hardness in a bolt used in these forks. They have identified 56,194 units with that suspected bolt and thus, will replace it free of cost for all owners where some sort of problem is detected. Dealers will contact the owners through call, SMS and email.
Owners can also check if their scooter falls under the recall list by submitting vehicle identification number on official website of HMSI. They can book a visit in advance and avoid congestion at their closest Honda dealership.
Activa 5G, Dio and Cliq are using bottom link type suspension and thus, does not need to worry about this bolt problem. Majority of scooter sales come from Activa and Dio range while Grazia has got itself a place in top 10 best selling scooters of India. Honda has majority share in scooter market and this number feels ever increasing with introduction of new products.
Complete Honda scooter lineup is based on two different engines. Premium options are offered with powerful 124.9cc motor, producing impressive 10.54 Nm at just 5000 rpm. Basic scooter lineup uses 109.19cc, single cylinder engine producing 9 Nm at 5500 rpm.
The price difference between both engines is still considerable and thus, buyers opt for 110cc option to save on both initial cost and fuel use difference. Honda offers limited number of features when compared to other scooters as handful of option use alloy wheels in Honda lineup. They recently added LED headlight to the bestseller, Activa 5G.
