Putting a full stop to the ongoing speculations, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has launched an all-new motorcycle in India. Christened as SP125, the all-new bike is equipped with a BS6 (Bharat Stage 6) compliant engine.
The Honda SP125 is the second BS6 product to be unveiled by the brand for the Indian market. Earlier this year, Honda rolled out the updated model of the 125cc Activa scooter in September, which also follows the upcoming BS6 emission norms. It can also be said that Honda SP125 is the second bike in the country that is BS6-compliant after the recent launch of the Splendor iSmart by Hero MotoCorp.
In India, the BS6 emission norms will be enforced from April 1, 2020, in order to regulate the output of air pollutants from the internal combustion engines and the spark-ignition engines.
The Honda SP125 is being promoted with a tagline – “strictly for the advanced”. Through the SP125 you will get to experience the thrilling performance and advanced technology that has been inculcated in this bike.
The motorcycle has been rolled out with Honda’s globally acclaimed Enhanced Smart Power or ESP technology along with an eco-friendly BS6 engine in a dynamic personality. All these features make the bike an equally smart and stylish ride.
The SP125 has a unique silent ACG starter motor that removes the gear meshing noise that enables the engine to start without a jolt. You can stay updated as the bike is equipped with a fully-digital instrument console that displays real-time fuel-efficiency, average fuel efficiency, distance-to-empty, a service-due indicator, a gear-position indicator, and it also has an eco indicator.
The Honda SP125 is equipped with a 124cc 4-stroke SI BS6 single-cylinder engine that can generate a maximum power of 10.7HP @ 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 10.9 Nm @ 6000 rpm. The engine works in combination with a 5-speed transmission with a multi-plate wet clutch.
The motorcycle is available in 4 colours: Striking Green, Imperial Red, Siren Blue, and Axis Grey. In terms of pricing, the drum brake variant of the SP125 is available at INR 72,900 while the disc brake variant is available at INR 77,100. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom Delhi.
