250cc Husqvarna Bikes Launched in India: Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250 have been officially launched in India with an introductory price tag of INR 1.80 lakhs (ex-showroom). At this price point, the 250cc bikes undercut the BS6 model of the KTM Duke 250 by INR 21,000. Husqvarna unveiled its debut products Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250 in the Indian market at the IBW 2019 in Goa. The motorcycles feature a neo-retro design while are based on the underpinnings of KTM Duke 250.
The motorcycles will be available to the customers via the KTM ProBiking dealerships in India while the production will be carried out at Bajaj’s Chakan plant in Pune. The existing KTM showrooms have been updated to accommodate both the brands while the Husqvarna twins will be available at 100 dealerships across 45 cities in India. The motorcycle will be available for sale at the select dealerships from March 2020 while the brand also plans on expanding its reach in the coming 5 months.
Powering both the Husqvarna motorcycles is a 248.8cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine that does the duty on the KTM Duke 250. The engine is capable of generating maximum power of 31HP @ 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 24Nm @ 7250 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission along with a slipper clutch for smoother gear shift mechanism.
The brand has offered the Vitpilen 250 with a cafe racer-inspired styling. The clip-on style handlebar units offered on the motorcycles further offers it a lean riding position. Coming to the neo-retro scrambler styling offered to the Svartpilen 250, the motorcycle offers an upright riding position making it good for mild off-roading as well as normal touring.
Both the 250cc Husqvarna motorcycles feature a retro round headlight in addition to getting basic designs, colours and round all-digital instrument console. The suspension duties on the motorcycles are handled by USD forks at the front that has been sourced from WP. The rear end of motorcycles has been equipped with an adjustable monoshock. The braking power is offered by disc brakes at either side mated to 2-channel BOSCH ABS as standard.
