A recent report by Motoroids confirms that Kawasaki will launch its 2017 range of products in India on 25th March 2017. The extended lineup may include the 2017 Ninja 300, retro modern W800, extremely sharp Z900 and two other replacements for older models (2017 Ninja 650 and 2017 Z650). The middle weight naked Z650 will be a replacement for the aged ER-6N while Z900 will replace the Z800 of India. These Kawasaki motorcycles were unveiled at Intermot and EICMA 2016 while W800 has even been spotted on display in a company dealership.
The new 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Z650 share the same platform, losing around 18 kgs when compared to their older versions. This makes them the most efficient motorcycles of their segment, easily beating Benelli TNT 600i and Hyosung GT650R in terms of performance and refinement in this segment. They are now Euro 4 compliant and claim 8 percent more efficiency than the earlier models. The best part is the addition of dual channel Bosch 9.1 ABS and Nissin brake calipers for added braking power. Ninja 300 will remain mechanically the same while the Winter Test livery is expected to arrive on the launch event.
It’s Official: Kawasaki to Launch New Bikes in India on March 25
Kawasaki Z900 is a replacement for Z800 internationally. It carries a 948 cc, 4-cylinder engine producing 125 PS at 9500 rpm and 98.6 Nm at 7700 rpm. Kawasaki brings the Z800 as a CBU and it wont be difficult for them to replace the same with the bigger version. The 650 cc models are localized, hence getting the best price tag a bike could get for its performance values. All these models will help Kawasaki take over the sales from various Japanese and European motorcycle brands on sale in the country. However, the brand reach will get highly affected after breaking ties with Bajaj Auto.
W800 is a different story, bringing no such urge to race as all other Kawasaki bikes on the list. It is more like a collectible and carries a 773 cc, air cooled engine producing 47 HP at 6500 rpm and 60 Nm at just 2500 rpm. The peak power delivery at such small rpm makes it ideal machine for relaxed riding. It uses a single front disc brake and may arrive in India in its Final Edition. Due to its Euro 3 compliant engine, it will be discontinued before April 2017 internationally. It is then to be seen if Kawasaki could sell those limited number of bikes in 6 days.
