Kawasaki to Make India its Production Hub, More Bikes to Get Price Cut

Kawasaki to Make India its Production Hub

Kawasaki has shown interest in the local production of their entire lineup in India, taking care of both the local as well as the export market (Africa and Latin America) in one go. The practice will not just help them increase their overall sales, Kawasaki could also reduce the present pricing for all products. Ninja ZX-10R is India’s most affordable liter-class bike with INR 12.80 lakh worth price tag. Not just that, they offer Ninja 1000 and Ninja 300 at INR 9.99 lakh and INR 2.98 lakh respectively. The Z-Series of motorcycles, especially Z650 and Z900, are well priced at INR 4.99 lakh and INR 7.68 lakh.

These numbers will fall for sure as a reduction in taxes from 60% to just 31% will be nothing less than magic for the fans of Kawasaki in India. The brand has invested in a 10,000 sq meter production unit in Chakan, clearly hinting at their intentions of growth in one way or the other. They are expected to manufacture around 10,000 units per year in India to meet the rising demand in most global markets. Kawasaki has gathered a team of experts to see how effectively they can gather parts from local vendors without compromising on quality and speed of production.

The move will help them target better pricing for entry-level models like Z250, Ninja 300, Versys X-300 and others. Kawasaki is planning to sell around 5,000 units every year in India from 2020. Their total number of dealerships in India will double to 30 in 2018, leaving them better placed in terms of the brand presence than most other manufacturers. The British, Italian and even other Japanese brands with no focus on local production will soon face the wrath of Kawasaki through an affordable placement of bikes. The move of bringing single-cylinder 250cc bikes to India can help them easily complete their targets.
