Electric KTM Duke in the Making | Spy Photos & Details

KTM 390 Duke is surely one of the best machines ever built in the street fighter segment. The motorcycle recently went into its second generation while love for the first generation never went down for the fans. Although it wears the body panels of a recognizable motorcycle, his typical KTM Duke spotted here is neither a 200 nor a 390. Supporting an all-electric drivetrain, this test mule is expected to take shape as the next big thing in the KTM lineup. Not just that, this would be the first Duke to get love from environment caring people.

The chassis on this Duke 390 has been altered to fit that huge electric motor inside the engine bay. Bajaj Auto, the majority stakeholder in the KTM brand recently hinted at an all electric motorcycle in their lineup. This could be a product that may get tested along with the recently spied KTM test mule. Bajaj is planning to introduce an electric product by 2020 while KTM could offer the same an year or more before that one. Being an electric bike, this test mule comes without an exhaust under the belly of the motorcycle.

The performance values of the test mules are still unknown while it can be safely said that they are using the Duke’s body design to test the functionality of the electric motor. Introducing a new design would be the highest possibility as this design is currently manufactured for limited countries only. It will soon be discontinued in favor of the new edgy design in all markets. KTM is even using a Wiener Stadtische sticker on the rear number plate. The brand is known for its offers regarding added protection to electric bikes.
