When 125 Duke was introduced for India, it was surely predicted that KTM RC 125 will also make a debut in the Indian market. Now, Autocar India has confirmed that the fully faired supersport motorcycle will go on sale in the third week of this month, while the deliveries are expected to commence in the first week of July. The India specified model is expected to get slight changes in terms of design in comparison to the international-spec version of the 125cc sports bike.
The RC 125 isn’t a new version of the RC range and this motorcycle has been on sale in select international markets from past few years. No one would have guessed though that KTM will fast forward the launch in the Indian market to June 2019. The upcoming bike will not feature the side exhaust to save the additional cost. However, the best part of the bike is the underbelly exhaust design which is already featured in the KTM RC 200.
Mechanically, the RC 125 and 125 Duke are exactly similar. They are powered by a 124.7cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled motor that produces 14.5 HP of maximum power with 12 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The RC 125 is also expected to feature the same suspension and brakes as its naked version, so it means that it will get a single-channel ABS unit instead of the dual-channel ABS unit from the RC 390.
Coming to price, we can expect the RC 125 to be priced around INR 1.45 lakh to 1.50 lakh mark. The fully-faired and more powerful Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 costs INR 1.40 lakh, and it is the closest possible rival of upcoming RC 125 in this price range in India.
