Royal Enfield 650 Twins Beat Bajaj Dominar 400 (Sales Report): Royal Enfield 650 Twins registered 2,427 units in May 2019, leaving behind some of the reputed bike options available in the Indian market. One of them was Bajaj Dominar 400, posting 1,888 units as the sales number in the same period.
Royal Enfield 650 Twins have no direct rival around this price point and getting this huge number helped them gain the first position across the 600cc+ segment. The launch of Jawa bikes was considered a negative point for Royal Enfield motorcycles initially but now, it seems like the slow deliveries of Jawa 300 and Forty-Two will not affect the overall sales of the Bullet maker.
The 650 Twins are powered by a twin-cylinder 648cc engine, producing 47 HP of maximum power and 52 Nm of maximum torque. On the other hand, the new model of Bajaj Dominar 400 comes with a single cylinder engine, producing 40 HP of max power and 35 Nm of torque.
The weight difference between both the bikes helps Dominar 400 achieve a healthy sprinting ability while top speed may stay more or less similar for both the motorcycles. The new Dominar focuses on premium component use while Interceptor and Continental GT 650 follows the cost-cutting route to bring the starting price tag of INR 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, the 2019 model of Bajaj Dominar is available in India for INR 1.74 lakh.
