After the recently surfaced teaser video of the most anticipated 2020 BS6 Royal Enfield Himalayan, the adventure motorcycle has been spotted undisguised for the first time at a dealership. The motorcycle is expected to be officially launched by the brand in the coming days while one can expect it to get a premium of INR 10,000- INR 12,000 over the price tag of the current-gen Himalayan which is available in the market for INR 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 2020 BS6 Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to be available to the customers in three new striking colours namely Lake Blue, Rock Red and Gravel Grey. Some reports also suggest that the brand will be launching the BS6 variant of the adventure motorcycle with an “X” suffix with its name though there has been no official confirmation received on the same.
Coming to the design language, the motorcycle features almost identical cosmetic bits when compared to the BS4 variant. The round headlight set up has been mated to the windscreen mounted on top. In addition to this, carrying forward from the BS4 version is the split seat setup as well as minimal body detailing.
Apart from this, the cockpit design has also been redesigned a bit which now features the hazard light switch on the right-hand side as opposed to its left-hand setup in the BS4 variant. The BS6 model is also expected to come equipped with a switchable 2-channel ABS unit as standard.
Though the motorcycle was already available with a fuel-injected engine in its BS4 avatar, the 2020 BS6 Royal Enfield Himalayan has been equipped with a catalytic convertor complying to the BS6 emission norms and offering optimum performance.
Though there has been no information on the power and torque figures of the upcoming motorcycle, one can certainly expect a reduction in power by a bit with the addition of a BS6 engine. At present, the BS4-compliant Himalayan is powered by a 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that is capable of generating maximum power of 24.5HP and a peak torque of 32Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission.
