2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X Could Look Like This

One of the most anticipated motorcycles, the next-gen Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X is expected to launch in India by the end of this year or in early 2020. Considering the spy images of the motorcycle that have surfaced online in the past, Shoeb R Kalania (SRK Designs), the digital artist from IAB has created an impressive rendering of the motorcycle.

According to the rendered image, the upcoming cruiser motorcycle will feature a redesigned rear panel as well as the side panels in addition to a round headlight unit. The shorter rear fender gives the next-gen Thunderbird 500X a rather distinguished look.

The fuel tank seen on the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X now features the fuel cap in the middle when compared to the offset position offered on the current-gen model. The rendered image of the motorcycle features all-black alloy wheels, a round tail light, and a repositioned registration plate. The sporty look of the motorcycle is further accentuated by a split seat design.

Mechanically, the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X is expected to retain the same power output offered by the current-gen model. The only major change made to the engine will be its compliance with the BS6 emission norms.

Powering the motorcycle will be a 499cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, BS6-compliant engine, capable of churning out a maximum power of around 28 HP and a peak torque of around 42 Nm. The drive chain on the BS6-compliant model has been repositioned to the left side of the motorcycle.

The suspension duties on the next-gen Thunderbird 500X will be handled by the same conventional telescopic forks at the front while the rear will feature gas-charged twin shock absorbers. The motorcycle will feature disc brakes on either end with the addition of a dual-channel ABS unit as standard.
