Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Limited Edition has been officially launched in India for INR 2,49,217 (On-Road Price). Only 1000 units of this limited edition model will be ever made, out of which 250 will be sold in India and 190 will enter the British market.
The limited edition is inspired by British paratrooper motorcycle RE/WD 125, also known by the name Flying Flea. The original motorcycle could be parachuted to a certain location within the war and helped British soldiers move with ease within enemy boundaries.
These motorcycles were built in Royal Enfield’s underground facility in Westwood during the second world war. Outside India, RE Classic 500 Pegasus Edition is available in Service Brown and Olive Green shades, but in India it is available in only Service Brown because Green shade is reserved for army vehicles in India.
The serial number of each Classic 500 Pegasus will be stenciled on the fuel tank. Royal Enfield has one original Flying Flea motorcycle at their technology center in the UK. Buyers will also get military style, world war II inspired panniers and a leather strap on the air filter casing.
Royal Enfield has finished the Kickstarter, exhaust, headlight area and spoke rims in the Black shade for further resemblance. The engine powering this limited edition model is their tried and tested, 499cc air-cooled unit producing 27.2 BHP at 5250 rpm and 41.4 Nm at 4000 rpm.
It comes with a five-speed gearbox and claims 194 kg of overall weight. Classic 500 is already a popular model with more than 3000 units in sale each month. Service Brown is an impressive shade and offering that in limited numbers will excite true Royal Enfield fans to own one in India.
