Complete Sales Report of Royal Enfield Motorcycles (July 2018)

Royal Enfield Motorcycles Sales Report: Royal Enfield is the only mass-market brand in India whose starting range is well above INR 1 lakh. They lost the fifth position in July 2018 to Yamaha India, losing a big chunk of Classic 350 buyers during this period. It seems like the brand was prepared for this drop as news of ABS-equipped Classic was circulating on the internet for a long time. They will definitely gain back the number in August through the newly brought edition. Classic 350 is still the highest selling motorcycle with 44,054 units in July 2018.

The number is bigger than what commuter specific Platina sold during the same period, clearly indicating the cult following that is not at all affected by the pricing. Bullet 350 is still a bestseller with 13,016 units for both standard and ES variant. Thunderbird 350, the most loaded 350cc RE, got 6,154 units in July 2018. Apart from these three bikes, all other Royal Enfield products have smaller sales number. Classic 500 got a respectable 2,152 units per month sales figure, dominating the 500cc segment without any problem at all.

Himalayan got 811 buyers while 500cc Thunderbird and Bullet got 491 and 323 units respectively. The present ratio confirms that around 1 in every 22 buyers prefer going for a 500cc variant. The reason for this is clearly the price charged by Royal Enfield for a bigger engine, ranging from INR 40,000 for the Classic series to INR 52,000 for Bullet series. The latter counts the addition of disc brake (front only), electric starter, fuel injection and more displacement in differences.
