RTO to Suspend RC of Motorcycles with Modified Exhausts

Kerala RTO has recently announced that they will suspend RC (Registration Certificate) of any two wheeler that is found with illegal modified exhaust. Traffic Police is also preparing a campaign against two wheelers that use modified silencers.

Traffic Police claims that more than 1000 bikes with loud exhausts are currently operating within Ernakulam, out of which many have been repeatedly receiving fines for this illegal act. They aim to bring noise pollution down and through suspension of RC, the owners will not be allowed to ride the same for specific period. The suspension term is currently 3 months.

After owners complete this 3 month period, they will be asked to bring their two wheeler to the RTO and verify if the loud exhaust has been replaced with stock unit. Once this fact becomes clear, they suspension term will come to an end.

Illegal exhaust use is a big problem in Indian automotive world as riders are not fully aware of certain aspects that should be kept in mind before replacing the stock exhaust.
