Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited has launched the 2018 Suzuki Gixxer SP and the Gixxer SF SP in India, at a price of INR 87,250 (ex-showroom Delhi) and INR 1,00,630 (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. The younger sibling of the two comes with ABS as standard while the elder one features fuel injection along with the ABS as standard options.
There is an attractive gold-black colour scheme along with a brand new SP 2018 emblem on the Gixxer SF SP series. New graphics can be seen on the fuel tank as well as the front cowls of the bikes. The new versions of the SF SP series bikes get only cosmetic changes and apart from that, the bikes remain essentially the same as before.
Both the bikes are powered by a 155cc single-cylinder engine with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP). The engines manage to produce a maximum power of 14.8 hp at 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 14 Nm at 6000 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Both the bikes get 17-inch alloy wheels with tires from MRF. The two new bikes are available across Suzuki dealerships Metallic Majestic Gold and Glass Sparkle Black paint schemes respectively for the Gixxer SP and the Gixxer SF SP.
At this price point and engine displacement, the Gixxer SP will go up against the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Honda CB Hornet 160R and Yamaha FZ-S FI V2.0 while the elder Gixxer SF SP will butt heads with the Yamaha Fazer Fi V2.0.
Both the twins sport a digital instrument cluster along with a sporty twin-port exhaust and LED tail lamp. The suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks up on the front while the rear has a 7-step adjustable monoshock. The front and the rear, both sport disc brakes for efficient braking.
