Suzuki is working hard to fetch a considerable sales chunk from 150cc segment and next step toward this milestone is the introduction of Gixxer SF ABS into Indian market. They have launched the carburetor fed Gixxer SF ABS for INR 95,499 while the one with fuel injection has been launched for INR 99,312. Apart from the availability of front single channel ABS, Suzuki offers all new graphics on fuel tank, front cowl and side fairing.
Gixxer SF ABS
Ex-showroom: INR 95,499
On Road: INR 1,08,800
Gixxer SF Fi ABS
Ex-showroom: INR 99,312
On Road: INR 1,13,300
This i a great move as most brands don’t offer such safety, and Suzuki did it with a price gap of under INR 7,000. The ABS being offered by Suzuki is a single-channel unit (will control only the front wheel) like we have on the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. Bajaj takes a premium of around INR 12,000 for the same single channel unit.
Mechanically, there are no changes and the ABS models arepowered by the same 154.9cc, single cylinder engine producing 14.6 BHP and 14 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Apart from being powerful and lightweight in comparison to others, the aerodynamic design is wind tunnel tested and helps rider achieve higher efficiency in terms of performance and mileage.
The ABS model is available in 2 shades: Triton Blue and Black/Red. Introduction of ABS will help Suzuki create awareness regarding safety and may speed up the process of introducing ABS on other premium street fighters like Yamaha FZS, Honda CB Hornet 160R and Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
