TVS Apache RTR 200 Enters Limca Book of Records

TVS Apache RTR 200 recently entered Limca Book of Records for reaching the highest altitude on a motorcycle. The record was attempted by team of six riders.

They used four TVS Apache RTR 200 motorcycles that were fitted with off-road friendly tyres, slight suspension tune and spoke wheels measuring 18 inch for front and 16 inch for the rear. The height achieved was 21,524 feet at Rupshu Valley in Ladakh.

Manas Sen, Subrato Boral, Santanu Roychowdhury, Achinta Saha, Indradeb Chatterjee and Srikrishna Biswas started their record breaking journey by riding 1612 kilometers from Manali to Kyichu, which itself is located at 15,110 feet from sea level.

This was the first section of their journey while second started from Kyichu to their destination and ended on August 29, 2016. The team submitted the record in December 2016 while verification and other formalities took almost 16 months. They were finally awarded the record this month.

It may sound easy on paper but this team went through rock, ice and almost every possible surface that one could imagine on a motorcycle. Making those changes were mandatory as alloy wheel could break down under such high pressure and normal tyres would slip on rocks every few meters.

TVS Recently Launched the RTR 200 Race Edition in India

TVS Apache RTR 200 once again proved its worth as they have not reported any major issue with their bike. TVS offers the same with slipper clutch on 2018 variant, making it even easier to ride the same on track with lightning fast downshifts.

The 197.7cc, single cylinder engine on the motorcycle is good for 20.5 PS in carburetor and 21 PS in fuel injected variant. Torque stays the same at 18.1 Nm on both variants. Buyers can presently choose between three different variant options and Pirelli tyres can be bought as an option on all three of them.
