TVS is moving ahead of other bike manufacturers in shifting their vehicles from BS4 to BS6. The brand has recently launched the BS6 2020 TVS Star City Plus in India. It is priced at INR 62,034 (ex-showroom) for the monotone variant while the dual-tone variant gets a price tag of INR 62,534 (ex-showroom). In comparison to the BS4 variant, it has got a premium of around INR 7,600.
Mechanically, the bike is powered by a 109.7cc BS6-compliant, fuel-injected engine which produces 8.0HP of maximum power at 7,350 rpm along with 8.7Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. There is a drop of 0.4HP of power in the BS6 variant of the bike. The engine comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox while the company-claimed top speed stands at 90kmph.
To increase the fuel-efficiency of the bike by 15%, TVS has offered ETFi (Eco-Thrust Fuel Injection) technology in the 2020 model of the Star City Plus. By transition of the engine from BS4 to BS6, the refinement and rideability of the bike have improved significantly. The brand also claims the better start-ability of the bike in all weather conditions. The BS6 2020 TVS Star City Plus has a kerb weight of 116kg while the fuel tank capacity stands at 10-litres.
Going by the looks, the bike gets a new LED headlamp and a redesigned fairing along with newly designed rearview mirrors. The bike also gets added features that include a dual-tone seat, a USB mobile charger, a new part-digital part-analogue console.
The suspension duties of the bike are performed by telescopic forks at front while the rear end is equipped with 5-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers. For braking, it gets drum brakes at front and rear, which are mated to Synchro Braking Technology (SBT). The BS6 2020 TVS Star City Plus will rival against the likes of Bajaj Platina 110 and the Hero HF Deluxe.
