TVS Motor Company is actively working on plenty of forthcoming motorcycles, and it’s evident from the trademark applications the company has made in the past some time. One of the trademarks that have attracted a lot of attention from bike enthusiasts as well as online media is Retron.
Earlier, it was expected to be reserved for the upcoming electric scooter from the brand, which will be based on the Creon concept. However, as per the sources, it is now suspected to be used for the new TVS retro-style motorcycle. And recently, a new test mule has been spotted near the company’s Hosur manufacturing plant.
The spy image is courtesy of Ashish Kadam in which a disguised retro motorcycle is demonstrated. The Retron is believed to be built on the same underpinnings as the Apache RTR 160, so many features of this motorcycle may be shared with the modern roadster.
Some notable design differences include an upswept exhaust, a single-peace saddle, and a single-piece grab rail for the pillion rider. Also, the LED taillight appears to be an auxiliary unit, and the rear fender makes its way from the tail section. Furthermore, the motorcycle is outfitted with alloy wheels and hefty tyres with a larger profile and cross-section.
Moreover, the minimal side panels indicated it to be a naked roadster. It also needs to be mentioned that the spy image is available only with the side and rear profile of the test mule. Hence, the front profile details are not yet available. Also, while expecting it to be a vintage design bike, the instrument console could also be in a circular shape with half analogue and half digital readings.
Talking about the mechanics of the motorcycle, it is likely to be powered by the same 159.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with a 5-speed transmission. After getting launched, the new TVS Retron is anticipated to rival the Yamaha FZ-X.
