UM Renegade Commando and Sports S have received a price cut in India. The move comes when most brands are passing the benefits of reduction in taxes due to implementation of GST. India witnessed this historic change in tax slabs on July 1, 2017.
GST Effect: UM Renegade Commando & Sports S Gets Price Cut
The benefits are mostly expected to fall in the hands of products under 350cc in the two wheeler segment and luxury cars plus SUVs in the four wheeler segment. UM Sports S will get a price reduction of INR 4,200 while Commando gets INR 5,700 off from its price tag.

Majority of two wheelers in India fall under 350cc. The old rate of tax for all category of bikes and scooters was 30 percent while new slab will help bikes under 350cc get a reduction of 2 percent. On the other hand, bikes bigger than 350cc will get an additional cess of 3 percent on the new taxation rate, which is 28 percent. So, at the end, the bikes above 350cc have got a price hike of 1 percent and bikes under 350cc got a price drop of around 2 percent.

UM Commando and Sports S are powered by a 279.5cc, single cylinder engine. Both the engines are liquid cooled and carry fuel injection after the BS4 update. This whole setup is good for 24.8 BHP at 8500 rpm and 23 Nm at 7000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
