Yamaha FZ25 is presently the best selling model of its segment. A recent sales report from SIAM concludes that FZ25 sold a total of 11,477 units in India. Yamaha’s aggressive pricing and FZ25’s power engine resulted in a product that not just challenged the bigger bikes but also came the best seller above all.
March 2017 saw 3584 units moving out of the dealerships while April 2017 brought 3595 units in FZ25 sales. The figure fell to 1999 in June 2017, most probably due to the expected change in pricing due to GST. The sales figure of July 2017 may rise as FZ25 is one of the best bikes you can buy around INR 1.20 lakhs in India.
Yamaha FZ25 is powered by a 249cc, single cylinder engine producing 20.69 BHP at 8000 rpm and 20 Nm at 6000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and the brand claims 43 kmpl of on-road mileage. This makes it the most mileage friendly motorcycle in its segment and hence, helps in improving the sales.
Before its introduction, Bajaj Dominar 400 was expected to arrive as the new best seller in the performance segment. FZ25 rivals none other than KTM 250 Duke and Benelli TNT 25 in India. The large price difference makes the motorcycle a star product among Indian performance loving buyers.
