2017 Yamaha MT-09 & MT-10 SP Officially Unveiled
Impressive Updates for 2017 Yamaha MT-09
Yamaha MT-09 is internationally 3 years old and needed an appreciable change in its overall looks and performance to compete against others in the street motorcycle segment. The most effective change on MT-09 is the twin front headlights, inspired from the bigger Yamaha MT-10. They make it look much more mean and sharply styled than ever.
The rear end has even witnessed changes which are more towards the modern street bike styling. The frame has been reduced by 30 mm while the number plate now comes on the single arm bolted to the swing-arm on the left side. The seat height has been raised by 5 mm while flatter seats provide a better saddle than before.
The motorcycle carries some mechanical changes in the form of Assist & Slip Clutch, along with 20 percent lighter clutch than the on-going model. Yamaha’s Quick shift system also comes standard, leaving the clutch only useful while downshifting the gears. The front forks are now 41 mm with adjustable compression damping and rebound adjustment while the rear mono-shock is said to be untouched from the earlier configuration.
MT-09 is powered by a 847cc, three-cylinder engine producing 113.4 BHP and 87.5 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and retails in India at INR 10,20,000 for the current version. Inclusion of LED lights and other premium components will surely bring a bigger tag for the 2017 version. Yamaha may soon launch the updated version in India.
