The 2020 BS6 Yamaha MT-15 was officially unveiled in India back in December 2019. The updated model was launched in February this year with a starting price tag of INR 1.39 lakh (ex-showroom). The BS6 version of the motorcycle is priced INR 2,900 higher in comparison to the price tag of the BS4 variant, which was available for INR 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom).
Coming to the major updates, the brand has offered the 2020 BS6 Yamaha MT-15 with a new ‘Ice Fluo Vermillion’ colour scheme which is a combination of icy white body panels with neon orange alloy wheels. In addition to this, the “Dark Matt Blue” and “Metallic Black” colour options have been retained from the BS4-compliant variant of the motorcycle. Here is the colour-wise ex-showroom price list of the BS6 2020 Yamaha MT-15:
The next-gen variant of the MT-15 has been further equipped with a side-stand engine cut-off switch which prevents the motorcycle to start whenever the side stand is down. In addition to this, the tail light position has also been revised and has been raised a little bit when compared to the last-gen model. The brand has also equipped the 2020 BS6 Yamaha MT-15 with a wide radial tyre at the rear. Apart from these changes, the motorcycle remains cosmetically unaltered.
Yamaha recently also revealed the technical specifications of the updated MT-15. It is powered by a BS6-compliant 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that is capable to generate a maximum power of 18.5HP @ 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.9Nm @ 8,500 rpm. In comparison, the BS4 variant of the MT-15 was good for 19.3HP of maximum power along with an utmost torque of 14.7Nm. The engine remains mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The suspension duties on the motorcycle continue to be handled by telescopic forks at the front while the rear has been equipped with a monoshock unit. Like the BS4 model, the 2020 BS6 Yamaha MT-15 features disc brakes at either end mated to a single-channel ABS unit as standard. Here are the live photos of the BS6-compliant Yamaha MT-15.
