A commercial release has marked the shout-out of the 2020 Yamaha MT-125 in the European market. This naked street bike is heavily inspired by the MT-15 that is being retailed in India. Prior to the start of the Tokyo Motor Show that is scheduled for October 24, 2019, the Japanese bike maker has unboxed two small-displacement models. One of them is the 2020 model of the MT-03 that was unveiled at the beginning of October and now the brand has brought the MT-125.
The new-gen model of the Yamaha MT-125 features an identical headlight similar to that of the India-spec MT-15, which actually supports the more aggressively sculpted front end that features a dual-LED DRLs setup, plus an LED headlight beneath it. The 2020 Yamaha MT-125 has received an updated 125cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine, which is now equipped with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) – a change that has been given to the bike due to the Euro 5 emission standards.
As of now, no details have been provided about the pricing of the bike for the European market. With the introduction of the 2020 Yamaha MT-125, the brand is trying to reach out to the young riders and the city commuters who look forward to a bike which is sporty yet economical.
There has been no confirmation about the bike being brought to India anytime soon though, we can expect Yamaha to launch the new MT-125 in India to compete with the likes of KTM 125 Duke.
Like the India-spec R15 V3 and the MT-15, the MT-125 won’t be getting the premium USD front forks. If launched in India, the 2020 Yamaha MT-125 is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.10-1.20 lakh.
