BS6 Impact: 6 Yamaha Bikes Discontinued in India

6 Yamaha Bikes Discontinued in India: As per the official website of Yamaha Motor India, the brand has discontinued six of its BS4 bikes. At present, only six bikes are listed on the brand’s website – R15 V3, MT-15, FZ V3, FZS V3, MT-09 supernaked and the YZF-R1 superbike.

Yamaha was expected to offer only a few of its most cherished bikes with a BS6-compliant engine while the remaining were expected to be discontinued. The bikes that will no longer be available for sale under the brand’s portfolio includes the likes of Saluto RX 110, Saluto 125, SZ-RR Version 2.0, FZ25, Fazer 25, and the YZF-R3.

The Yamaha Saluto RX was launched in the Indian markets back in 2016 and featured a 110cc engine. The motorcycle wasn’t able to register respectable sales numbers when compared to its competitors under brands like TVS, Bajaj, Hero and Honda. The motorcycle with a BS4-compliant engine was available in India at a price tag of INR 52,350 (ex-showroom).

The Saluto 125 was a 125cc upgrade offered to the Saluto RX and was capable of offering 8.3HP of maximum power and 10.1Nm of peak torque. Finished with attractive graphic detailing, the 125cc Saluto was available in the markets at a price tag of INR 60,850 (ex-showroom).

Another motorcycle from the brand that has seen the dust is the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 which featured a 150cc engine with decent body design as well as attractive graphics. The motorcycle was not able to register decent sales back in its lifetime thus the reason for it being discontinued.

Yamaha Fazer 25

The Yamaha Fazer 25 was powered by a 249cc engine that was capable of offering maximum power of 20.9HP and a peak torque of 20Nm. The motorcycle featured stylish graphics as well as notable accents on its body panels, but still, a lot of people disliked the overall design of the motorcycle. As a result, the brand didn’t offer it a BS6-compliant engine.

Yamaha Motor India has also removed the FZ25 from its official website but the brand has promised to launch the 2020 BS6-compliant model in the coming weeks. In addition to the FZ25, Yamaha will also launch a more premium version of the 250cc FZ later this year, and it will be launched as FZS 25.

Though the brand has discontinued the BS4-compliant last-gen model of the Yamaha R3 sportbike in India, the reports suggest that the BS6-compliant 2020 Euro-spec model will be launched after 3-4 months with an all-new design language and upgraded components.
