BS6 Yamaha FZ V3 and FZS V3 Launched in India

As expected, the BS6 Yamaha FZ V3 and FZS V3 have been officially launched in India at INR 99,200 and INR 1,01,200 respectively. The FZS V3 is also available in a new Darknight Edition, which has been priced at INR 1,02,700. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom India.

Mechanically, the BS6-compliant 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine powering the updated Yamaha FZ series is now capable to generate a maximum power of 12.4HP @ 7250 rpm and a peak torque of 13.6Nm @ 5500 rpm. In comparison, the BS4-compliant FZ models were good for 13.2HP @ 8000 rpm and 12.8Nm @ 6000 rpm. Therefore, the power has decreased by 0.8HP while the torque has increased by 0.8Nm. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Apart from the change in power and torque figures, the motorcycle remains cosmetically unchanged. The BS6 Yamaha FZ series continues to measure 1,990mm in length, 780mm in width and 1,080mm in height. The ground clearance of 165mm and the seat height of 790mm also remains the same. Both the FZ V3 and FZS V3 continue to feature an LED headlight and an LCD instrument panel.

Speaking about the launch of the new Yamaha FZ-FI and the FZS-FI, Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of companies, said: “As Yamaha reveals from its new product line up, the BS-VI compliant FZ motorcycles will be available across Yamaha showrooms from November 2019. FZ is an iconic brand and many motorcyclists have been brought up well from its cradle. This popularity served more concern to the company while planning for its BS-VI variant. Yamaha strived for optimum cost control and achieved to peg it around 2.5% higher, only to let FZ’s excitement stay unrestrained in India. The new BS-VI models in 150cc are also expected to yield Yamaha’s strong presence in the deluxe class 2W category.”
