5 Quick Facts About Yamaha R125 – One of the Most-Awaited Bikes in India

5 Must-Know Facts About the Yamaha YZF-R125 Sports Bike

Yamaha YZF-R125 is a stunning supersport machine with class-leading parts and impressive output for a motorcycle of its class. It is based on the familiar R15 Version 3 in terms of the design and the first look at the entry-level sportbike can make anyone go crazy. Everyone’s mind is filled with questions regarding the newcomer and these five points can clear any doubt that comes to mind for the new R125 sportbike.

5 Must-Know Facts About Yamaha R125 Sportbike

1) Design Similarity The familiar design was first seen on the Indonesia-spec R15 V3 and then came to India with a slight modification to the front suspension setup. The latest model of the R125 is based on the Indonesia-spec R15 V3, carrying the same USD forks and a unique set of rear foot-peg holders that are absent in the India-spec model of the R15 V3. The new R125 sportbike looks smarter than most of the 125cc fully-faired sportbikes available in the international markets like the KTM RC 125, Suzuki GSX-R125, Honda CBR125R, Kawasaki Ninja 125, and the Aprilia RS 125.

2) Engine Output – The 124.7cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine on the motorcycle is good for 15 HP of maximum power at 9000 rpm and 12.4 Nm of peak torque at 8000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The values are quite healthy as the India-spec Yamaha FZS V3 is good for just 12.4HP of power output. Even the torque also varies by just 1.2Nm. The engine of the R125 also uses VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) for better power delivery further improving the ride quality.

3) Instrument Console – The all-digital instrument console on the new model of the Yamaha R125 sportbike is inspired by the console seen on the 2022 Yamaha R3. The colours are inverted for a sporty feel, further highlighting the high rpm range in red and various values like gear position, clock, and fuel level.

4) Available Shades – The new Yamaha R125 is available in the European markets in three eye-catching shades namely Icon Blue, Tech Black, and Competition White. The blue seen here is different from the one available in the Indian market on the R15 V3. Apart from the three stock shades, Yamaha also offers the 2022 model of the YZF-R125 in Monster Energy livery in the European markets.

5) India Launch Details – As of now, Yamaha has no plans to launch the new R125 in India though the brand may consider the entry-level sportbike for the Indian market at a later stage as KTM has received an overwhelming response for the RC 125 in the country. If Yamaha launches the R125 in India, it will get conventional front forks like the R15 V3 and is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.30 lakhs.
