2017 Yamaha R15 is definitely the most awaited motorcycle in the lightweight performance segment. Yamaha Indonesia recently unveiled the pricing for the new variant, slotting it at 34.5 million IDR (INR 1.69 lakh approx). The older version was priced at 30.5 million IDR (INR 1.49 lakh approx), witnessing a change of around 4 million IDR (INR 20,000). When the price of Indonesian spec R15 is compared to the Indian spec R15 version 2.0, it becomes clear that a difference of INR 15,000 can be expected on the new model.
Price of Yamaha R15 Version 3 Officially Announced in Indonesia
This will place the R15 version 3.0 at INR 1.35 lakh (approx), making it the most expensive 150 cc motorcycle after its official launch in India. The change in price can be justified with the addition of front LED headlights, USD front suspension, better instrument console, all-new design and the bigger 155.1cc engine with VVA technology. The same is good for 19.04 BHP at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm at 8500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox that supports slipper clutch and claims a top speed of 144 kmph (speedo indicated). It weighs just 137 kg and carries a smaller 11 liter fuel tank on the 2017 model.
Yamaha R15 version 3.0 will rival none other than the aging Honda CBR150R. It is least powerful when compared to the new version and Honda may think of bringing the new CBR150R in India after the launch of R15. Yamaha showcased the third generation R15 in Racing Blue, Matte Black and Matte Red shade in Indonesia. The seat height has been increased to 815 mm while ground clearance still stays high at 155 mm. Yamaha uses a 282 mm front disc brake while ABS is still not on offer on the 2017 variant.
As of now, Yamaha has not announced anything officially regarding the launch of R15 Version 3.0 in India. It is expected to come to India after 6-8 months. Yamaha R15 V3 is expected to come with an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.30-1.35 lakhs.
