According to a recent media report, Yamaha is planning to launch the MT-15 dual-channel ABS model in the Indian markets in the coming weeks. As per the details available, the updated version of the street motorcycle is expected to get a price hike of around INR 4,000.
For your reference, the single-channel ABS model is currently available with a starting ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.41 lakhs. Apart from the addition of a dual-channel ABS unit, the updated model won’t be getting any mechanical or cosmetic changes.
At present, the Yamaha MT-15 is available in three standard shades and eleven custom shades. The standard colours are Dark Matt Blue, Metallic Black, and Ice Fluo Vermillion, while the customers can also opt for eleven custom shades under the “Customize Your Warrior” colour-customization campaign.
To jog your memory, Yamaha launched the BS6-compliant model of MT-15 back in February 2020. If we talk about the major changes, the BS6-compliant 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine is good for a maximum power of 18.5HP @ 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.9Nm @ 8,500 rpm. Both the power and torque figures of the BS6 engine are 0.8HP and 0.8Nm down respectively when compared to the 19.3HP of power and 14.7Nm of torque offered by the BS4 version. The engine remains mated to a 6-speed transmission.
Coming to the other feature updates, the motorcycle has been equipped with a side-stand engine cut-off switch which prevents the rider from starting the motorcycle if the side stand is down. This imparts the updated sports machine with additional safety. Apart from this, the tail light of the updated motorcycle is now a bit sharper when compared to the BS4 version while the new model features a wide radial tyre at the rear for extra-smooth handling on the Indian roads.
