Yamaha R15 registered 231% YoY sales growth in October 2018, listing 15,008 units and scoring the first spot among full-faired motorcycles of India. The official launch of the third generation R15 marked improved numbers for the niche brand, getting the third position after leaving the Ray series behind by a considerable margin. The most selling product from Yamaha is FZ while least selling tag goes to Yamaha R3 for its huge 3.49 lakh price tag. The two premium products, MT-09 and R1, are not even bringing a single unit addition to the overall number. Yamaha also retails slow-selling Saluto RX and Alpha brand name.
Yamaha R15 is now available in Version 3.0 and S variant, with the latter one carrying 149cc engine instead of the bigger 155.1cc engine. Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 offers 19.3 PS of maximum power while R15-S is available with 17 PS of output. Both the models are available with 15 Nm of torque. Yamaha added features like slipper clutch, LED headlight, and variable valve actuation to their third generation R15, raising the price to INR 1.27 lakh in place of the INR 1.17 lakh price tag for the R15-S. They are yet to announce the import of 2019 R3 for India with USD forks, digital console, and other technological additions. The brand recently discontinued the R15 Version 2.0 in India.
