Yamaha R15 Turbo Model Has 23HP Power and 180 kmph Top Speed

Customized Yamaha R15 Turbo with 180 kmph of Top Speed

Yamaha YZF-R15 is a miraculous machine for sure. Have you ever imagined what happens to an R15 V2 when you push a turbocharger into action? TuneBoss has already worked on it and what you see here is the Yamaha R15 Turbo with a claimed top speed of 180 kmph on the dynamometer.

The Thailand-based custom performance house has used a turbocharger on the R15 V2’s puny 150cc engine, giving young riders an exact idea of how fiercely the technology works in real-world riding conditions.

The intake has been placed on the lower left side of the Yamaha R15, right next to the engine. The instant rise in acceleration is purely visible after a certain range as in the beginning it feels more like a stock model of the R15 V2 but the mid-range quickly achieves speed with almost 20 kmph every second.

The top end then again takes some load and the bike struggles to reach the claimed top speed. Still, it takes only 10 seconds for this typical modified Yamaha R15 Turbo to reach 180 kmph from a standstill on a dynamometer. The turbocharged model is capable enough to generate a maximum power figure of around 23HP. The stock model of the R15 V2 is good for 17HP and the modified model gets 6HP extra with the turbocharger.

The race-spec exhaust system further helps the sportbike to achieve such an amazing top speed. The custom-made R15 Turbo is finished in the bright orange shade and is equipped with a custom tank pad, rear seat cowl, and a tyre hugger.

In terms of the design, the front fascia is also different from the stock model of the YZF-R15 Version 2.0, carrying projector headlights and a bigger headlight cowl. Yamaha discontinued the R15S (old model) and the R15 V2 in the Indian market a few years ago.

At present, the entry-level sportbike is available in three variants namely R15S, R15 V4, and R15M with a starting ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.63 lakhs.

  • You guys don't really know much about technical stuff, do you?
22hp with the drag produced by by the R15s bulky design can only see that speed on a dyno. The drag in real life will make sure the thing can't even reach 150kph.
Ask the guys who made it to change the ratio and on the dyno it might even surpass 200kph. But what use is that?

    • Your armchair expert ass clearly doesn't really know much about performance tuning. The gain they finally made is around 40+% of stock hp, which is massive, and it comes at an rpm that accounts for drag in practice. Revs even surpass that tho and still exceed the stock redline in real tests. And since you talk speedo even a stock bike does a 155 on that with the comparatively much lower revs. That should tell you they haven't played any significantly with the torque profile yet. But as i said, you're keen to prove your dumbass status to anybody in the know with your comment. Gtfo.

      • Cute. Now learn physics and understand that drag is proportional to the square of velocity.
If I assume you keep the same gear ratios, that means, the jump from 10.5 to 13k rpm, would mean 23% less torque for the same power, for the proportional increase in power, the torque has only increased by 0.77*40% which is around 30%.
R15 in stock form is good for 130kph
So the 30% extra torque would only increase the top speed by 5.5%.
        Thats 137kph.
How close is that to 180kph that you see?
You're free to believe in bullshit you see online though.

        • Said like a true armchair expert. Quips the term 'drag' like a wannabe knowledgeable person, No idea on any of the variables and makes a ton of simp assumptions close to none of which are valid in real world tests.. LMFAO at your "torque increases top speed by x" statement!! People such full of shit as yours truly are too many.. but forgive me as the only time you ride a real bike is when you sit on your favourite carousel in front of a TV screen.

        • tanmay you really are a fool without even knowing about the bike you said that well with your huge weight it would only go to 130 but i have tested the stock bike it goes around 139 kmph well with turbocharger it can go around 170+.so just shut up and stop playing like you know evrything

          • Lol cool bro, live in delusion. Your loss, not mine. Wonder what bike you ride, do tell. Also, what's your logic in believing this? Just because it spins its wheels that fast on a dyno?
