As expected, Yamaha has officially discontinued the R15 V2 in India, and the brand has removed the 150cc sport bike from the official website. The R15 series is now available in 2 variants: R15S and the recently launched R15 V3.
Before discontinuation, the R15 V2 was priced at INR 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom India). The bike was powered by 149.8 cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine capable enough of producing a maximum power of 17 HP @ 8500 rpm and an utmost torque of 15 Nm @ 7500 rpm. The engine was mated to a 6 speed gearbox. The bike was available in 3 shades: Sparky Green, Revving Blue, and Adrenaline Red.
There has been a tremendous increase in the sales of the bikes in the R15 series from Yamaha. Compared to June last year, the company sold 163% more bikes in this series in June this year. The numbers went up from 2,985 units in June last year to 7,847 units in June this year. The bikes included in this series are the R15-S, the YZF-R15 V2, and the YZF-R15 V3.
Even after almost a decade, and a few upgrades over the years, the R15 continues to remain the favourite sports bike of the people of India in the 150cc segment.
