According to the recent buzz, Yamaha has discontinued the SZ-RR Version 2.0 in India. The SZ-RR V2 was one of the 150cc commuters in the company’s portfolio whose production has been finally brought to a halt. The motorcycle is still listed on the brand’s official website while available across several dealers till the stock lasts.

It was already known that the motorcycle will be discontinued from the Yamaha lineup since the brand did not update it with the mandatory ABS feature as per the new government regulations of equipping the bikes above 125cc with an anti-lock braking system.

Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 Reportedly Discontinued in India

The Yamaha SZ-R was initially launched in the Indian market in the year 2010 while the brand updated the model in 2014 with a new set of cosmetic as well as mechanical updates and christened the updated motorcycle as SZ-RR Version 2.0. The motorcycle initially gained popularity considering its premium specifications though lost its charm as the new competitors made their impact on the Indian motorcycle market.

Powering the Yamaha SZ-RR V2 is a 149cc, air-cooled, carburetted engine capable of producing a maximum power of 12.1HP and an utmost torque of 12.8 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front while the rear of the motorcycle features dual shock absorbers. The SZ-RR V2 gets a disc brake at the front while the rear has been equipped with a drum brake.

The motorcycle weighs 134 kgs while the fuel tank capacity stands at 14-litres. Before being discontinued, the SZ-RR V2 was priced at around INR 70,000 (ex-showroom). Yamaha recently revealed its plan to increase its share in the Indian market by 10% in the next 5 years. The brand is planning to focus on its premium range of lineup to get a stronger foothold in India.
