Yamaha FZ25 was recently launched in India for a price tag of INR 1,19,500. If a report from BikeWale is to be believed, Yamaha will soon launch Fazer 250 based on the same platform. They believe that Yamaha has a conservative strategy toward product development and their current lineup clears the fact in a better manner. The version 2.0 lineup with the 149 cc engine includes FZ Fi, FZ-S Fi and Fazer Fi, covering all the aspects of Indian street bike riding community. They engineered one product and sold three in total.
In fact, in an interview to PowerDrift, Roy Kurien, vice-president, sales and marketing, Yamaha India said “That is like logical, right? Just wait for sometime. We will let you know that” when asked about the Fazer 250.
Yamaha Working on Fazer 250 Based on FZ25
FZ25 is again a perfect platform to spawn a semi faired version as Yamaha has no shortage of design inspirations from higher spec Fazer models. The engine is even oil cooled and would support effective cooling after the coverings are placed. Not just that, the same would be a best seller in advance as lot of people prefer semi faired bikes for their touring needs. It would only get a reasonable price hike as current difference of INR 7200 (approx) is justified by the design enhancement and added factors like windshield and twin headlights. The ex-showroom price for the semi-faired version of FZ25 is expected to be somewhere around INR 1.29 lakhs.
The engine powering the quarter liter FZ25 is a 249 cc, fuel injected and oil cooled engine that produces 20.69 BHP at 8000 rpm and 20 Nm at 6000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The relaxed riding engine would be a perfect power-plant for the faired version as it can satisfy the touring needs of Indian riders with even more ease. The riding stance would help them win over the regular fatigue. Currently, FZ25 is being offered in three shades while Yamaha may offer new shades around the end of present year.
