New Yamaha XSR155 Retro Motorcycle Officially Revealed

Yamaha XSR155 has been officially revealed in Thailand for 91,500 Thai Baht (INR 2.11 lakh, approximate). The all-new XSR155 motorcycle is based on the brand’s ‘Sport Heritage’ lineup that consists of higher displacement retro motorcycles like XSR700 and XSR900.

Powering the motorcycle is the R15 V3’s 155cc, liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine, that is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, which is further assisted by a slipper clutch as standard. The Yamaha Thailand’s official website has not listed the power and torque figures though, we can expect the XSR155 to be capable of churning out a maximum power of 19.3 HP at 10,000 rpm and an utmost torque of 14.7 Nm at 8500 rpm.

Like the XSR700 and XSR900, the new Yamaha XSR155 is also equipped with a round headlight, taillight, and a retro-modern circular all-digital instrument console. Along with the regular information like the tachometer, speedometer, odometer, trip-meter and the fuel gauge, the compact LCD console also displays a gear-position indicator.

In terms of dimensions, the motorcycle measures 2000mm in length, 805mm in width, and 1080mm in height. The seat height and the ground clearance of the XSR155 stand at 810mm and 170mm respectively. The kerb weight of the motorcycle is 134kgs while the fuel tank capacity is 10 litres.

Yamaha XSR155 Design Highlights

The suspension duties are handled by upside-down forks at the front while the rear of the bike gets an adjustable monoshock. The India-specific model of the Yamaha XSR155 will feature standard telescopic front forks instead of USD (Upside Down) forks to keep the costs under check.

The retro bike is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, while the India-spec model is expected to get a 2-channel ABS unit as standard. The brand is likely to launch the motorcycle in India by the end of 2019 or at the Auto Expo in February 2020. The Yamaha XSR155 is likely to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.50-1.60 lakh in the Indian market.
