An official press conference has confirmed that the Citroen C5 Aircross will be the first product from the French car brand. The first event from the brand also confirmed the entry period as September 2020. The report regarding C5 Aircross ignited the hopes across the car fans of India and their official confirmation marks the re-entry of PSA Group into the country. The car first entered the global scene through Shanghai Motor Show in 2017 and its perfect placement against the premium sub-INR 25 lakh SUVs made it practical for the market. However, the five-seat layout of the car makes it a direct rival of Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson.
The platform is shared among different brands falling the under the alliance, primarily being the Vauxhall Grandland X. Citroen C5 Aircross comes with 4500m of length, 1840mm of width and 1670mm of height. The wheelbase measures 2730mm while ground clearance is healthy at 230mm. The premium essence is stuffed at all points within the car as buyers will get dual tone dashboard finish with modern split vents and flat-bottom steering wheel. The console sits within the vents while the extra wide centre section takes the premium feel to the next level.
The dial-type set up next to the gearbox area can help in the selection of various driving modes. The black and brown theme looks very elegant while the digital instrument console confirms the presence of mirroring technology. The official images show a split grille at the front and panoramic sunroof at the top. Citroen C5 Aircross is powered by a 1.2L, turbo petrol engine, producing 130 HP of maximum power. On the other hand, diesel fans may get the 1.5L turbo-diesel engine with 130 HP of maximum power or the bigger 2.0L, 180 HP engine. All the engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
