Ford Mustang recently witnessed a price hike of INR 3 lakh. India spec Mustang GT 5.0 V8 now costs INR 74.62 lakh and commands a total hike of INR 9.62 lakh from the first car ever sold by Ford India as it was launched for INR 65 Lakh in Feb, 2016.
Right hand drive Mustang was nothing less than a dream come true for car fans across the world. This also helped major markets enjoy the true American muscle in its best form. When compared with an ex-showroom price of same Mustang variant in US ($35,095 or INR 22.82 lakh approx), buyers may feel they are paying more than three times its actual price in India.
Import taxes in India are already very high and it seems like Ford is also enjoying good amount of profit by selling these hot cakes in India. The most premium variant of Ford Mustang, GT 5.0 comes with seating for four and takes just 4.5 seconds to sprint from standstill to 100 kmph.
Even after carrying a lot more weight than standard cars of this length, the powerful 4951cc eight cylinder motor propels it like a rocket to an electronic speed limiter governed 250 kmph of top speed. The engine is good for 395 HP at 6500 rpm and 515 Nm of massive torque at 4250 rpm.
The stock version rides on 19-inch wheels and comes equipped with front, side, curtain and knee airbags for both driver and front passenger. Leather rules the interior and nine speaker music system with sub-woofer makes the deal more lucrative than ever.
India spec Ford Mustang is actually the 2017 variant with older design language while 2018 variant will soon enter India after existing model is globally sold out. The high price and unique profile makes Mustang a showstopper at every traffic light.
