As per a recent report, 5088 units of Honda cars have been recalled to replace faulty front airbag inflators, which were manufactured by Japanese automotive parts company, Takata. The issue with the front airbags has been reported in Honda Jazz, City, Civic, CR-V, and the Accord.
The Japanese conglomerate notified that the recalled products include 10 units of Jazz that were built between 2009-2012, about 2,099 units of the City that were built between 2007-2013, 52 units of Civic that were manufactured between 2006-2008, 2,577 units of the CR-V that were built between 2003-2008 and also those in 2011 along with 350 Accord units built in year 2003.
The company in one of its official statement said, “The replacement will be carried out free-of-cost at HCIL dealerships across India from July 29, and the company will communicate with customers directly”.
Further adding to the statement they said that the customers who wish to check whether their cars come under this airbag rechecking campaign can submit their seventeen characters alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on a dedicated page on the company’s official website. The company has requested its customers to get a recheck of their airbags in the nearby dealership as soon as possible.
Honda Cars India Limited or HCIL has emphasized the importance of this replacement of these Takata front airbag inflators. In case of failure, it can cause danger to the person driving the car if the airbag inflator gets ruptured. The airbags may be deployed with excessive internal pressure which is further a risky scenario.
It is also in the news that the company is planning to launch the much-awaited Honda HR-V in the Indian market in November this year. The mid-size SUV is expected to get a price tag of around INR 14 Lakh. The brand is also planning to launch the 2020 models of the City sedan and the Jazz hatchback next year.
