2018 Hyundai Creta Gets 32,000 Bookings Since its Launch in India

A few years back, even Hyundai had no idea how their products will perform in changing car preferences of Indian buyers. Creta, the urban SUV with standard front-wheel drive layout and commanding stance, became an instant hit in 2015 and showed them the right path to taste levels of success that were never before experienced by the Korean manufacturer.

After three years of uninterrupted and unchallenged presence, Hyundai decided to bring a facelift for their best-selling product. The new version was launched on May 21, 2018, and got Hyundai a total of 32,000 bookings in last 10 weeks.

Keeping the overall profile similar to the last version, Hyundai introduced a bigger front grill, silver inserts in both front and rear bumpers, redesigned fog light area and a new set of alloy wheels. The top variant was launched with an added sunroof, wireless phone charging, and power-assisted driver seat.

The launch of face-lifted Creta resulted in more demand for E+ variant, offered with a 1.6L petrol and 1.4L diesel engine. The former comes with a music system with 5.0-inch touchscreen, sun-glass holder, front map lamp, audio controls on steering wheel and front USB charger over the E+ diesel variant.

Hyundai reports that 32% of the total bookings are for the petrol variant, showing rising interest of buyers in powerful engines with low mileage than a similarly sized diesel version. Creta comes with a 123hp petrol motor with an option between 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox.

The most selling E+ variant is priced at INR 9,99,900 for both petrol and diesel engine option. The 1.4L, four-cylinder diesel engine on the Creta is good for 90hp while the bigger 1.6L motor claims 128hp of maximum power. The 1.4L diesel engine comes without an option for the automatic gearbox.
