2018 Hyundai i30 Fastback has been unveiled internationally. For those who relate this to India spec i20, all new i30 Fastback cost more than Elantra and carries class leading design and feature list. When compared to i30 hatchback, Fastback variant comes with slightly smoother roof-line and impressive rear end.
Front fascia stays typically Hyundai style with signature grill, dual barrel projector headlights and LED daytime running lights in the lower bumper section. Rear end will slightly remind you of Mercedes GLE Coupe but in this case, overall dimensions are lower and much more compact due to fastback design language.
When compared to the i30 hatchback, this specific car is 115mm longer and uses 18 inch wheels for impressive side design. Audi A5 Sportback also serves as slight source of inspiration for i30 Fastback as few design lines hint at its presence. Practicality takes first seat as you will find four doors for maximum passenger comfort.
The frame is now lower placed by 5 mm and thus, stiffer suspension setup was used to get the best possible ride quality from this car. Sporty feel is further enhanced by all black interior that has impressive steering wheel with almost every possible shortcut button.
Hyundai i30 Fastback is powered by a 1.4 liter, turbocharged petrol engine producing 140 HP and 242 Nm of torque. Safety is also highly cared here as buyers will get rear cross traffic alert, road speed sign reader, high beam assist, forward collision warning, driver attention warning, lane change assist and smart cruise control.
Hyundai may not offer i30 Fastback in India as their image of being a mass market brand will not let such lifestyle product sell at reasonably high price for a Hyundai car (almost more than INR 20 lakh). Globally, it is available in estate version also.
