2018 Hyundai Santro Spied Testing: Hyundai is presently working on a hatchback that sits right under the Grand i10 and could rival Maruti Celerio and Tata Tiago in this segment.
Both the rivals are munching good numbers out of Indian automobile sales and Hyundai being the second largest of all, leaving aside a segment would not be a good option at all. It can be a replacement for their ageing Eon or Hyundai could even consider keeping all three of them with considerable gap in pricing.
The photos seen here confirms that this car is almost ready and getting itself tested for the last stage in India. Can it be the 2018 Hyundai Santro?
It can be called with the popular moniker as Santro was a popular name among Indian buyers and many still remember the powerful hatchback that carried every quality that an Indian buyer needs. It had a tall roof and was wide enough to carry 5 passengers with ease.
The engine was much more powerful than existing hatchbacks of that time, most importantly Maruti Wagon R. Hyundai i10 was a great replacement but still, it evolved into Grand i10 and got itself discontinued from the Indian market. Santro is actually a great moniker to bet upon in 2018.
The i series of cars are popular among buyers spending almost INR 6 lakhs or above. Even if you look at the sales of Grand i10 and i20, buyers prefer Sportz or above variants due to their practicality and feature list.
Santro could be great option for those who are willing to spend an amount equivalent to the base price of grand i10 but wish for more features and options from that segment.
If they wish to stay even lower than this segment, rivals will change to Maruti Alto and Renault KWID, both of which are almost unbeatable as per the present situation. Even Ignis could be a target indirectly! The official unveil is expected to happen @ Auto Expo 2018.
